“HON HON HON.” On the night of the 5th, a large tree almost identical to Oubliette has been set up in Caissa’s center square and it’s up to the Heroes to decorate it! Boxes filled with baubles, stars and other decorations are stacked up near the tree so Heroes should have no trouble busying themselves. Some of the kids running around might request help reaching the higher branches. Don’t drop too many baubles or Toskers will come and pelt you with nuts. And gems. But mostly nuts. Charity presents are being placed beneath the tree and everyone is encouraged to donate something appropriate to people who have suffered under the war with Noir. War victims such as hospital patients, orphans and soldiers with families will all appreciate the gesture. And who can better deliver the gifts than the Heroes? Dress up in the provided Papa Noël outfit, put a little Papa Noël hat on your mount, and sleigh away! Though, aren’t some of the outfits a little… saucy? Don’t have a mount? Hitch a ride, or better yet, go out and catch one!

Who’s Naughty? Who’s Nice?

“I have faith this task force won’t stoop down to their level.” Not everything can be fun and games, especially not during the holiday season. Aside from the dubious costumed individuals at the celebratory party (refer to “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”), there are also those who have been dipping their fingers in all sorts of donation boxes. Among them is an underground group of self-proclaimed “Heroes.” They are known as “Zeroes” among locals. These criminals have been causing havoc by stealing gifts meant for the war victims, claiming that everyone has been too naughty to receive anything. If anything, these ‘Heroes’ are the naughty ones as they sell their stolen goods on the black market, particularly in Gobang Alley, Sciocchezza Street, and Hartstocht. In order to pin the blame on the real Heroes, the gang members use basic elemental spells while posing in ridiculous ways, such as making a Y or a Z shape with their arms. If fought and questioned, they will proclaim to be doing the right thing. Some seem to want to take advantage of the opportunity and may ask for “mana exchange.” Because that’s what Heroes like, right? Find the troublemakers and bring them to Commander Lisbrand. She’d like to have a word with them...

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

“Hohoho! When you get old enough to be Papa Noël, you start to enjoy it.” Thanks to the collective efforts of Heroes, Blancs, Airys and Gammonians, the cure to the Caruana Virus has been found! Prime Minister Toussaint is sponsoring the month-long celebrations to honor their success. The public has been invited to join in the festivities. Now completely cured, former Caruana Virus victims will also be present to hand out thank-you tokens for the Heroes! As Cherima approaches, Blanc’s customs of welcoming the cold winter season can be observed among the celebrations. Mischievous fairies will be hanging mistletoe in the most unexpected times and places. Food will be available near the bonfire, including ingredients for s’mores to make for yourself! Most notable are the locals who are, as per tradition, dressed up as the Krampus, a frightening alpine beast whose heart is tamed with the promise of fruit and candy canes. However, criminals and Noir spies alike have been reported to use the costume to hide their not-so-good deeds, so Heroes, be alert! Both alcohol and hot chocolate will be available en masse and Heroes are free to get as many refills as they want! They might also want to visit one of the medical tents handing out free bottles of all-cure elixir to stave off the incoming hangover.

A Little Match Girl

“Why? I guess you could call it personal interest...” Alumina, a cloaked and shabbily-dressed girl, will approach you at the Garden of Elysion in Menchik. Protectively looming behind her are two others, most likely the young girl’s older siblings. They don’t look anything alike, though… What could she need help with when she has someone to watch out for her so loyally? The answer becomes clear after she explains her plight. Curious Alumina wants to learn more about magic—curses, specifically. She promises that her interest is purely scientific but her parents rarely let her out of their sight, least of all in the vicinity of dangerous books. Retrieve as many texts you can find on curses and she will reward you handsomely. Travelling Gammonian scholars and Gris refugees in Lasker might know a thing or two. You may also want to employ the aid of those in Pigeonsblood School of Magecraft. If you’re an expert at curses yourself, why not share your knowledge with her? While you’re at it, could you look for her missing pet duck*? * Try as they might, Heroes will not be able to locate the duck. Please stay tuned for plot updates!
